How to play Dwelple

Dwelple is a free daily word game about fishing. Every day there are three categories, the same for everyone. Name answers that fit, drop your line as deep as you dare, and reel in before it snaps.

The basics

  1. Cast. Each day has three casts, one category each, like "Name a fruit" or "Name a Pokémon". One of them is a harder Deep water category.
  2. Name answers. Type anything that fits. Every correct answer drops your line deeper, and rarer answers drop it further.
  3. Reel in. Points only count once you reel in. Tap Reel in whenever you like to land the fish at your depth.
  4. Don't let it snap. You get 10 seconds for each answer. If the clock runs out, or you give three wrong answers (three strikes), the line snaps and that cast scores nothing. Earlier casts are safe.

What answers are worth

Common answers are easy to bank but worth little. Rare ones take you much deeper.

The deeper you reel in from, the better the fish: sardines near the surface, bigger fish in the open blue, and stranger things the further down you go. Some catches stay a mystery until you land one.

Tips

Practice, logbook and sharing

Finished today's casts? Try Practice for extra rounds, mostly with categories from past days. They don't affect your score or logbook. Your logbook keeps every kind of fish you've landed in a daily cast, and your streak counts the days in a row you've played. When you're done, share your haul with friends to see who went deepest.

When do new categories come out?

At midnight in your own time zone, every day. Everyone gets the same three categories on the same date.

Is it free?

Yes. Dwelple runs in any web browser on your phone or computer. There's nothing to download and no account to make.
